  • Student Route - Previously Studying at another Institution

If you are already in the UK on a Student visa (or under another immigration category), you may be eligible to apply for a new Student visa from within the UK. You can find more information about eligibility on the UKCISA website.

    Important: Student Visas are Institution-Specific
Student visas are issued for study at a specific institution and cannot be used to study at a different university. The following rules apply:
    1. If you currently hold a Student visa issued for another university, you must apply for a new visa before you can register and begin your new course at Queen’s University Belfast.
    2. If you are currently studying at Queen’s on a Student visa and are progressing to a new programme, you must apply to extend your visa before your current visa expires.

In both scenarios, you do not need to have received your new student visa before starting your programme, but you must provide evidence to the Immigration Support Service that your Student visa application has been submitted.

Please Note: You cannot study at Queen’s University Belfast if you are on a Graduate visa outside of some very specific circumstances. You must obtain your new Student visa before starting your studies.
