Anna Jurek-Loughrey

Anna Jurek-Loughrey obtained an MSc in Computer Science (Poland) in 2006, MSc in Applied Mathematics (Poland) in 2009 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Northern Ireland, UK) in 2012. Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast. Anna’s background is in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science.
She has been pursuing research in different sub-areas of AI, including machine learning, data mining and natural language processing. Some of the fundamental problems that she has been working on include record linkage for data integration, machine learning in fake news detection and data science-driven precision medicine. Anna has extensive experience in conducting interdisciplinary, user-driven research. This involves working with scientists from biomedical and social sciences, public health and industrial partners.
